The Apple Shaped Body

We have looked at the pear-shaped body, now we will take a
 look at the apple shape.

What is a Apple-Shaped Body?

So what does it exactly mean to have an Apple Body Shape?
It means that you appear top heavy. You have a full chest and upper
with little or no waist definition. Most women who carry extra weight around the torso and appear full around this area belong to this group.

How to dress a Apple-Shaped Body?

* Wear the best possible Bra
Lifting the bust line will start the waist definition process.

* Even if you're  small in the chest you'll look best with low-ish necklines like V's, scooped necks, cowl necks, open shirt collars. The lower neckline helps to accentuate the long lean line. Choose a V-neck top in material that skims your body silhouette instead of a clingy fabric or one that is too loose.

* Wrap and Mock wrap tops, tops with side ruching, and tops with front knot detailing are very flattering. Wrap styles tailor your midriff by visually lifting up your bust.

* Look for tops with lots of sleeve detail like slits, gathers and cuff treatment.  Embroidery and other pretty shoulder detail (eg: sequins).  Embellished necklines, gathers and ruching.

* Look for tops and dresses in patterns and with texture, they have better
" camouflaging capabilities " than solid colours

* Look for cotton, viscose and merino wool blends in fine  gaug knitwear.Their thicker texture is less clingy than drapery jersey and  therefore more flattering.

* The length of your tops should either catch you just below your hip bone or a few inches above crotch point when wearing jeans or pants.

* You can sport the legging look with the right
A-Line dress or tunic, because it is about the dress or tunic not the leggings.
* You are the shape who can rock a pair of cargo pocket pants, choose a style in soft silky fabrications, but rigid cottons will also work.

* Pants and Jeans Styles that Complement your Heavy Top:
Jeans and pants that will bring balance to your top heavy body figure-
specifically a hem cut that widens from either your thighs or knee.
Bootcut jeans add balance to your overall look.
A pair of bootcut jeans that fall below your ankles creates a slimming effect and creates the illusion of a clean line from the waist down.
Apples should also look for jeans with a little stretch in order to bring
the tummy in a little and really emphasize the hips and backside.

 * Don't Wear:
Chunky clothing, such as bulky sweaters, tops that swim around your figure
and long thick jackets are a no-no for apple shapes.
Clingy fabrics, fitted clothes, fabric with large patterns, high necklines,
large lapels, pleats, narrow or tapered pants or skirts, tucked in tops.
These styles only makes you look bigger and accentuate your full figure.

The four different body shapes of women?

So Whats the Real Deal with Body Shapes and Clothes.

It's pretty basic really......

By wearing the right clothes for your body type, you "fill out" and slim down areas of your figure, creating a proportinal body shape with no heavy point that "interrups" the eye. By simply choosing the right clothing you'll make a wide butt, straight hips, wide hips and full torso look less noticeable.
Your goal is to create a visually balanced yet feminine silhouette - making it look like your bust and shoulders are at the same width of your hips.

The Pear-Shaped Body:

What is a pear-shaped body?

What that means is that the widest part of your body is below your waist, around your hips. Remember, you can be tall, short, or skinny and still be a Pear Shape.

How to Dress a Pear-Shaped body?

* Focus attention upward. The key to dressing a pear-shaped body is to enhance and add volume (or the illusion of volune) to your upper body by choosing tops that will balance your lower half while accentuating your waist.
Tops with nipped or fitted waists.
Bright colours or bold prints.

* Embellish around the neck:  Shirts and dresses with embellished necklines naturally draw the eye upward toward the slimmest part of a pear-shaped body.
Strappless tops and dresses look good on you.

* Layer it up. Layering garments can balance a pear-shaped body by adding visual interest to the top half of the body.

* Go for A. A-line dresses and tops emphasize the upperbody while slimming
wider hips characteristic of a pear-shaped body.

* Wide is good. Look for bottoms that will minimize your lower half.
Keep hems of pants, skirts and dresses wide to visually balance a pear-shaped body.

* Get a little Structure:  Structured pants are a great fit, especially those that skim the hips and thighs of a pear-shaped body.
Avoid flashy embellishments like cargo pants, funky pockets or embroidery.
Simple dark coloured pant with no (or minimal) pockets.
Pants that fall straight from the widest part of the hip.

* Create Balance with Colour:  Wear light or bright colours on your upper body and stick to darker colours for your lower body.
